Two years ago Preston had moved to the area with his job and after a long few months of trying to find a church that stuck to biblical principals to call home he had almost given up. One Sunday, however, sitting at home reading his bible Preston told himself he was going to church today and finding the right one no matter how far he had to drive! After looking at 30+ churches this morning he saw Flat Creek Baptist and thought to himself, “now that sounds like the church for me!”

Entering into the church Preston was met by Pastor Mark Ward (who quickly enticed him with Chinese food the next week if Preston wanted to come back) and walked into the sanctuary for worship! After service was over and Preston was leaving Pastor Mark stopped Preston and told him he wanted to introduce him to someone who would be in his Sunday school class if Preston wanted to come to Sunday school the next Sunday.

Pastor Mark walked Preston down to the front of the sanctuary where he introduced him to Brittany and they talked for a few minutes before taking off!

Preston had no idea what had hit him!

He had completely forgotten about the Chinese food Pastor Mark had offered him and couldn’t focus on anything but the fact that he didn’t know who that Brittany girl was but that he knew he needed her joyous, loving, Godly spirit in his life!

For the next few months Preston and Brittany spent 20-30 minutes after church just standing around talking; enjoying conversation and a friend at church.

After a few months people begin to ask them if they were dating but they didn’t even have each other’s phone numbers!

On July 7th, 2024 after a lot of prayer, Preston finally asked Brittany if she would want to get coffee next Sunday after church and Brittany had a fast “Yup!” loaded and waiting to answer!

That first Sunday they had coffee and talked for six hours straight and both knew they had found something special!

Two weeks later they went on their first official date to an escape room! Talk about Preston wanting to get straight to the point of seeing if their communication was good!

Locked inside of a bank trying to escape with $100,000, Brittany and Preston both realized they needed each other in their lives.

That night Preston asked Brittany to be his girlfriend and the rest has been nothing but an answered prayer for both ever since!
